Chaumont Chert is associated with the Watertown Member of the Chaumont Limestone Formation, Black River Group of the northern Black River Valley.  Primary outcroppings are located in Hamilton County, New York and at the General Crushing Stone Quarry, Watertown, New York.  Previously called the Leray Formation, now abandoned.
