Cheshire Quartzite is found in the Vermont valley of western Massachusetts, Connecticut, southwestern Vermont, and southeastern New York.  Primary outcroppings are found in Addison, Bennington, Chittenden, Franklin, and Rutland counties, Vermont. and on the east slope of Stissing Mountains of northern Dutchess County, New York.  Named for Cheshire, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
