Cienega Brown Chert primarily occurs along Cienega Creek southwest of the Cienega Mountains in the panhandle of Big Bend Ranch State Park, Presidio County.  Lies in the limestone formation directly below the basalt which has "heat treated" the chert in the limestone.  Identified by anthropologist / archaeologist, the proper formation name was not given,  .
