Description of Physical Characteristics:

Color:  Citronelle Cobble Chert is a glacial drift chert found in river and creek beds in Alabama and into Mississippi.  The color has great variation and can range form most commonly shades of brown and tan, but may range to white to pink or black. 

Texture: Fine grain

Luster: Waxy

Heat Treatment:  Heat treatment deepens the color and may produce orangish color.  It increases the luster.
