Clear Branch Chert is associated with the Clear Branch Sandstone Formation of north central Alabama.  Primarily occurs as 4 inch lenses in the sandstone formation of Birmingham Valley.  Outcroppings occur in the Clear Branch Gap through the Red Mountain, Jefferson County, Alabama.
