Coso Hot Springs Obsidian is associated with the Coso Volcanic Field and occurs as nodules in the southwest region of the Coso Mountains with 5 lenses occurring halfway up Sugarloaf Mountain, Inyo County, California.  Occurs near Coso Hot Springs, Joshua, West Sugarloaf Mountain, West Cactus Peak in Inyo County, California.  Joshua Ridge, Sugarloaf Mountain, West Cactus Peak, and West Sugarloaf are all different geochemical groups.
