Color:  El Paso Chert ranges from a medium light gray to olive gray dolomite to a light tan to gray or olive gray with reddish or bluish streaks occasionally present.

El Paso Chert is associated with the El Paso Limestone Formation of west Texas and southern New Mexico, and into Chihuahua.  Primarily occurring as beds of dolomite with space chert nodules in the  Sacramento, Franklin and Hueco Mountains.  Exposures also occur near Negro Canyon in the Sacramento Mountains.
