Garden City Chert is associated with the Garden City Limestone Formation of northern Utah and southern Idaho occurring as abundant nodules towards the top of the formation.  Primary outcroppings occur in Garden City Canyon, Rick County, Utah, Thomas Range near Spor Mountain, Dugway Range, Montpelier, Idaho, and extends into the Snake River Basin of Idaho.
