Halcyon Lake Chert is associated with the Halcyon Lake Formation of the Wappinger Group of New York.  Primary exposures occur around Halcyon Lake and Stissing Mountain in Dutchness County, New York.  The Halcyon Lake Formation is overlain by the Briarcliff Formation and it has been suggested that chert from this formation might be better assigned to the Briarcliff Formation.
