Color:  Hattiesburg Orthquartzite is a gray opal cemented quartztic siltstone or sandstone that may have shades of light brown or tan giving a mottled appearance.  Visible pores may be present.

Fine grain

Luster: Vitreous to dull

Translucency: Opaque

Silica Fabrics / Fossils: 

Patina:  Pale gray to tannish white

Heat Treatment:
