Color:  Hudson Bay Lowland Chert ranges from a bluish gray to a light tan or pale yellow.  Whites and reds may be present. 

Texture: 
Very fine grain

Luster: Waxy to glossy

Silica Fabrics / Fossils:

Patina:

Heat Treatment:  Tends to fracture if overheated.

Knapping:  Good flaking quality and edge retention

Hudson Bay Lowland Chert is associated with the Severen, Ekwan, and Stooping river formations of the Hudson Bay Lowlands.  It has been found in cobble form all the way to the Lake Nipigon region.  Glacial drift may deposit Hudson Bay Lowland chert into Minnesota.
