Color:  Kakabeka Chert ranges in color from grays with streaks of yellow, orange, or reds.  Needle shaped inclusions can give the material a wood grain appearance.

Kakabeka Chert is associated with the Gunflint Formation, Animikian Group of Minnesota and Ontario.  The only known outcrop of the material is at Kakabeka Falls near Thunder Bay, Ontario and found into northeastern Minnesota in glacial till.
