Ketona Chert is associated with the Ketona Dolomite Member of the Knox Formation of north central Alabama.  Ketona Member is the lowest member of the Knox Formation.  From lowest member to top most member; Ketona Member, Bibb Member, Copper Ridge Member, and  Chepultepec Member.   Primary outcroppings occur around Ketona, Jefferson County, Alabama.
