Laketown Chert is associated with the Laketown Dolomite Member of the Guilmette Formation of northeastern Utah, southwestern Wyoming, and southeastern Idaho.  Occurs as nodules and beds  in the dolomite formation with outcroppings in Laketown Canyon, Rich County, Utah.  Outcroppings also occur in the Pancake Range, Grant Range as nodules and thin lenses, Egan Range as nodules and beds, Snake Range as light gray nodules and lenses, Schell Range as nodules and beds, Kern Mountains and the southern Deep Creek Range, Goshute Range and the Toana Range of Nevada.
