Color:  Laurel Chert is mottled and ranges in color from a milky white to blue, and light bluish white to a light gray or light tan.

Medium to fine grain

Luster: Dull to waxy

Silica Fabrics / Fossils: Fossiliferous

Patina:

Heat Treatment:  Heat treatment produces colors of oranges, pinks, and reds and increases the luster.
