Lower Mercer Chert is associated with the Lower Mercer Member of the Pottsville Formation.  This is a local chert that occurs in small amounts.  Primary outcroppings are found in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania and into Coshocton and Vinton counties Ohio and into Kentucky and West Virginia.  Named for Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
