Mazaarn Chert is associated with the Marzarn Shale Formation of the southeastern Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas with chert occuring at the upper portions of the formation.  Named for primary exposure at the headwaters of Mazarn Creek, Montgomery County, Arkansas.  Other exposures occur in the Potato Hills and the Broken Bow Uplift in the southeastern Ouachita Mountains.
