Color: Monkton Quartzite is homogenous and ranges from white to light buff on top layers to light shaded of red and pink to brick red or purple.  Red jasper also occurs in this formation.

Monkton Quartzite is associated with the Monkton Formation of northwestern Vermont.  Primary outcroppings occur around Monkton and Addison County, Vermont.  Exposures occur from the Red Sandrock Range to Jones Hill on Charlotte to the southern end of Snake Mountain.
