Color: Providence Island Chert has relatively equal amounts of white chert nodules and a dark bluish gray nodules.  Some exposures may have more white than dark bluish gray while others have more dark bluish gray than white.

Providence Island Chert is associated with the Providence Island Formation of the Beekmantown group of New York and Vermont.  Primarily occurring as nodules with exposures occurring in the Adirondack lowlands and Lake Champlain lowlands west of the Orwell and Champlain thrusts.
