Rancheria Chert is associated with the Rancheria Formation of eastern New Mexico and western Texas.  Primarily occurring as nodules and beds in the Sacramento Mountains, San Andreas Mountains of New Mexico, Franklin Mountains of New Mexico and western Texas, and the Hueco Mountains of western Texas, and into Chihuahua Mexico.
