Sandia Chert is associated with the Sandia Formation of New Mexico occurring's in beds (not abundant), in the Sandia Mountains of Sandoval and Bernalillo counties, the San Andreas Mountains of Socorro County, the foothills of the San Francisco Mountains, in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Taos, Mora, and San Miguel counties, the San Juan and Estancia basins, Orogrande Basin, and the Palo Duro Basin, New Mexico.
