Santiago Chert is associated with the Santiago Chert Member of the Caballos Novaculite Formation of southwestern Texas.  Primary outcroppings occur along the east base of the Santiago Range, Brewster County, Texas.  Upper member of the Caballos Novaculite and commonly referred to as Caballos Novaculite.
