Color:  Tampa Chert ranges from a yellow to a tan or brown with medium to dark gray also occurring.  Chalcedony or quartz filled vugs are commonly present.

Tampa Chert is associated with the Tampa Limestone Member of the Arcadia Formation, Hawthorne Group of central and northern Florida and southern Georgia.  Primarily occurs as nodules along the Hillsboro River and in Grady, Mitchell, and Worth counties, Georgia.
