Overstreet (not related to the price guide) is an anthropologist for the State of Wisconsin, Great Lakes Archaeological Research Center and has extensively studied archaeology of the Great Lakes region.  This type was named in a professional publication and has many professional references.  This is considered a valid type. Stoltman is an anthropologist and a Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin who identified the Price type.  This type was named in a professional publication, but has been identified as the same type as the Chesrow type.  This name is used, but usually in conjunction with the Chesrow type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thick medium (1.5 to 3 inches) auriculate lanceolate point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is excurvate with the tip curving in and the side becoming parallel. Constricting towards the waist and flaring back out towards the base.  This gives this point an auricular appearance.  The blade may vary from long and narrow to short with a broad tip on heavily re-sharpened examples.  The base is concave forming auricular or ears.  The base is commonly thinned and hafting region grinding is generally present.  This type is commonly crudely made and has a random flaking pattern.
