Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a thin small to medium lanceolate with an elliptical to flattened cross section.  The blade varies from straight to excurvate.  The shoulders are weak to absent and at an upward angle.  The stem is contracting.  The base may range from slightly convex to slightly concave.  Basal grinding is commonly seen on this point.  This point has a random flaking pattern.    

Size Measurements:  Total Length - 19 to 42 mm,  Stem Length - 13 to 21 mm (typically 1/2 to 3/4 total length), Blade Width - 12 to 19 mm

This point is primarily found in the Columbia River Valley of Washington, Oregon, western Idaho and into southern British Columbia.

This point may take on many different appearances.  On examples with weak shoulders and a convex base may have a leaf shaped appearance.  On examples with defined shoulders and a contracting stem with a straight base will have a pentagonal appearance.  Larger examples with weak shoulders and a straight to concave base may have a lanceolate appearance.  Examples with prominent shoulders and a contracting stem will have a contracting stem appearance.  Regardless of the appearance, the hafting area is large on this type usually one third to two thirds total length of the point.

Gunkle was an archaeologist who conducted the River Basin Surveys, specifically the Rocky Reach Reservoir survey.  This type was named in that survey, but has had no professional references since that time.  This type has many collector type references.  This is considered a collector type.
