Alsen Chert is associated with the Alsen Cherty Limestone Formation of the Helderberg Group of New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.  This formation extends from Kingston New York to Wall Pack Center, New Jersey.  Primary exposure occur in the hills around Alsen, Becraft, and Scahoharie, snd throught the Hudson Valley.
