Esopus Chert is associated with the Esopus Member of the Onondaga Limestone Formation.  Primary outcroppings are found near Esopus and Catskill, New York.  Has been reported from the north‐south belt in the Hudson Valley in Albany, Green, and Ulster, Orange, Otsego, Schoharie, and Ulster counties, New York.
