  Fern Glenn Chert is associated with the Fern Glenn formation of eastern to southeastern Missouri and into Illinois.  Primary outcroppings occur in St. Charles, St. Louis, Franklin, Jefferson, Perry, and St. Genevieve counties, Missouri and in Jersey and Monroe counties, Illinois
