Ferruginous Quartzite is associated with the Rose Hill Formation of the Virginia Ridge and Valley from Craig County to Highland County.  Primarily occurring as nodules in Allegheny and Bath county Virginia, but can be found from Craig County to Highland County and throughout the Upper James River valley.
