Hardy Creek Chert is associated with the Hardy Creek Limestone Formation of southwestern Virginia.  Primarily occurs as locally abundant smooth symmetrical chert nodules with exposures near Hurricane Bridge and in Wallen Valley, north side of Sugar Run lowland and along the lower Cane Creek.
