Honaker Chert is associated with the Honaker Formation of Virginia, Appalachian Plateaus and Valley and Ridge.  Primarily occurs as nodules with exposures in Denton Valley, Washington County, Virginia where there are abundant nodules on the slopes.  The Nolichucky Formation is commonly included with the Honaker Formation.
