Keokuku Chert is associated with the Keokuk Formation of the St. Joes Group of Arkansas and Missouri and Oklahoma.  Primary outcroppings are located around Crystal Lake in Benton County, Arkansas, Spavinaw Lake, Oklahoma, and into northwestern Arkansas, southwestern Missouri, and northeastern Oklahoma.
