Lincolnshire Chert is associated with the Lincolnshire Limestone Formation of the Cliffeld Group of Virginia and into eastern Tennessee.  Occurs as abundant nodules in the Clinch, Hogskin, and Beaver Valleys, in Edison Tazewell, and Hawkins counties in northeastern Tennessee, and is the largest limestone reserve in the James River District of Virginia.  Grades into Lenoir Limestone in Tennessee.
