Nittany Chert is associated with the Nittany Dolomite Formation, Beekmantown Group of Pennsylvania Maryland, and Virginia occuring as thin beds and nodules.  Primary exposures occur in Nittany Valley and the Nittany Arch in Centre County, Pennsylvania.  Exposures also occur in northwestern Virginia and Maryland.
