Oriskany Chert / Silicified Sandstone is associated with the Oriskany Sandstone Formation of New York.  Primary outcrops are found on a narrow belt from Ontario to central New York and towards the Hudson Valley in a discontinuous narrow belt from the Province of Ontario, across central New York and petering out in eastern New York.  Outcrops occur in Ontario, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Madison, Oneida, Herkimer, Genesee, and Livingston counties, New York.
