Pinesburg Station Chert is associated with the Pinesburg Station Formation of the Beekmantown Group of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.  Primarily occurs as nodules with exposures in Pinesburg Station, Washington County, Maryland, in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, south central Pennsylvania, and in Clarke and Frederick counties Virginia.
