Rickenbach Chert is associated with the Rickenbach Dolomite Formation of the Beekmantown Group of Pennsylvania.  Primarily occurs as lenses, irregular beds, stringers and nodules in Berks, Lebanon, Lehigh, and Northampton counties, Pennsylvania.  In New Jersey chert occurs in the Crooked Swamp Dolomite member of the Rickenback Formation.
