Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a broad medium auriculate lanceolate point with a flattened cross section.  The blade is primarily excurvate and commonly has light beveling on one or both edges and / or serrations.  The hafting area has auricles, with one auricle or shoulder more pronounced than the other.  The base may range from straight to slightly concave and has basal thinning and hafting region grinding.  This point is made with broad shallow percussion flaking and finished deeper secondary pressure flaking forming a random flaking pattern.  

Size Measurements:  Total Length - 28 to 69 mm (47 mm average), Base Width - 25 mm average,   Thickness - 7 mm average

Soday was a well-respected archaeologist conducted numerous surveys and excavations and is well published.  He served as the president of the Alabama Archaeological Society.  Cambron is a distinguished avocational archaeologist that did extensive work in Alabama and the Tennessee River valley.  This point was named in a personally published book.  This point has been referred to in numerous professional publications and is considered a valid type.

Age Details:
These points are not found in association of shell heaps, but are commonly found with unifacial tools and other transitional Paleo period points.
