Description of Physical Characteristics:

Color:  Muldraugh Chert ranges in color from light to medium grays, pale brown to an light olive brown or dusty yellow.  Variegated or mottling of light and dark yellowish brown and quartz vugs may be present.

Texture: 
Medium to fine grain

Luster: Dull to waxy

Silica Fabrics / Fossils: Non-fossiliferous to highly fossiliferous.  Fossils include crinoids, fenstate bryozoa, siliceous spicules, and to a lesser amount, brachipods. (see notes)

Muldraugh Chert is associated with the Muldraugh Formation of the Sanders Group of Kentucky and Indiana.  Outcroppings are located in the lower Ohio River valley.  Primary outcroppings are located in Harrison County, Indiana
